Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Deep lines and fine wrinkles are inevitable signs of ageing and for many years we have all been trying to find ways to combat them. The wrinkling and drooping skin is a result of many changes going on beneath the surface of the skin such as collagen depletion, hormones and damage caused by free radicals. Sun exposure is one of the biggest culprits in causing premature ageing but our love for tanning often over-rides the concerns for the long term effects on our skin. Where the lines occur is mainly due to many years of muscle or surface skin contraction such as frowning, squinting or laughing. If the lines or wrinkles are apparent while the face muscles are resting it means they are there for good, and unfortunately will only get worse.

But there is one long lasting solution that has been used for anti-wrinkle treatments for many years now and the medical profession is seeing more advantages and applications as time goes on. It works by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. By reducing muscle activity the lines are less evident and are slightly plumped, giving a smoother more youthful look and tone. But whichever cosmetic or medical needs you are keen to solve, it is an injectable procedure and therefore it is very important to be confident in the provision your treatment.

What’s Involved in the Treatment?

As an “injectable” product and not a surgical procedure in the conventional sense, there is little preparation for you to worry about.

  • You will need to removal all make up and have a conversation about any treatments you may have had recently and any reactions to surgical methods etc. Most patients do not need a topical anaesthetic but this can be provided if you feel it would help.
  • Next you will be asked to make certain facial expressions so that the clinician can assess where to inject and how much is required.
  • Using a fine needle the clinician will inject small amounts of the  serum  into the selected muscles.
  • It might feel a little bit more sensitive around the finer more delicate areas of skin such as the eyes.
  • Each treatment takes 10-15 minutes and you should feel normal and ready to carry on with your day without rest or downtime.
